With my car in bits, I order a few bits and bobs from my local friendly OPC - new seat bolts, numerous new screws, fasteners etc for the various trim bits and panels removed. As I had had the badge panel stripped and resprayed too, I also ordered a new badge and gasket to adorn it.

Arrived at dealer to pick up bits and as I'm paying, the parts guy asks me if I'm sure I want the badge as they are quite dear now as Porsche have recently put the prices up.

£76 plus VAT !!!!![][]

Errmm, no I think I'll leave the badge, thanks!

Bit of surfing later and I have a new one with gasket and fixings on its way from Jasmine Motorsport for the princely sum of £14.89 inc VAT.

I know that new car sales are on their backside, but Porsche are clearly trying to recoup some of their lost revenues...!!

£76 plus vat is a joke. Especially when some little d**k head will probably steal it.

Those calipers in the pic. Have you hand painted them OR sprayed them. If so what with.?? They look sweet....[:D][:D]

Porsche's pricing policy defy's logic. Some things you'd expect to be horrendously expensive are surprisingly cheap, and as cheap if not cheaper than any other source, and some items are ridiculously expensive. Then they have their 'secret' sales on certain items which are never advertised anywhere. A few years ago they had a sectret sale on the steering wheel UJ shafts reduced from £60-odd to £20 odd - which luckily coincided when I needed one. Similarly when my rear brake discs needed changing they luckily had a secret sale on 944 brake discs.

I wish Porsche would have a section on their website dedicated for older models advertising such sales and other useful info. They should realise that the many thousands of people out there who cannot afford a modern Porsche and may prefer the older classic models are actually an asset to the brand and often much more loyal that the more well healed brand chasers who mostly buy the modern cars (sweeping generalisation I know). I read a stat a while back that said that something like 75% of all Porsches ever made to date worldwide are still on the road. That has got to be a very high percentage compared with other manufacturers cars.
