How sensible is this price ?

It seems expensive to me but I guess they are getting rare with this sort of mileage.

I'm not a fan of low mileage cars as problems due to lack of use can be costly to fix and tend to be overlooked by previous owners as they drive them so seldom.

Things such as aircon/clutches/brakes etc - not always easy to diagnose until you own it !!

Seems top dollar to me - you could buy a decent 'S' for this money and they seem to retain value[;)]

Depends if you feel it's worth it or not in terms of spec and condition.

Try and find another narrow body, Varioram, manual car with black leather and low miles?

If everything works and the car has been well serviced by people who know 993s I wouldn't let the low mileage put you off.

Does the car have desirable factory options such M030 chassis, genuine narrow body hollow spokes, LSD, who has serviced it, does the air con work, does the Varioram work, does it need new dampers, inner tie rods, is there rust under the rubbers around the front and rear windscreens, door check straps etc. etc. etc.?

You can find a great buying guide for 993s here and a PPI would be a must:

It is definitely over priced, but if it is pretty much perfect and needing little work then 8-10% off the price would be fair, if you really want a car like this.

I guarantee that will be sold and for close to the price. Full OPC history from new with supporting receipts, immaculate paint and interior, factory zennon upgrade lights, original option hollowspokes, fastidious previous owner, etc etc.

There is strong demand for a low mileage mint Carrera 2.

Ian.

Not a dig but I hear this all the time, on the other hand there are a few of us who just do whatever needs doing as an expected part of ownership and we don't overlook anything [;)]

Nothing wrong with a low mileage gem if you can find one[:D] As usual a full inspection is a must and as for price if it checks out it will sell near to the asking price.

Indeed - there was a fantastic, approx 10K miler, 993C4S in an indie I was using this week. Did have some "low mileage problems" - probably stiff CV joints (was still being diagnosed) - but nothing its owner was not keen to deal with.

I suppose it's all down to whether you want to enjoy driving the car properly[:D], rather then just look at it as an investment all the time - if you've got money to throw away you could put in a glass case or museum[:(], but what a shame.

Personally I've never thrown money away and as for driving it properly I would like to hear your definition of such. I drive mine most weekends through the summer as enthusiastically as possible. To get the best I suppose the only place left is on track which admittedly I don't do in mine. As for an investment I'm sure I won't loose a fortune if I ever decide to sell it if you take the well discussed "buy on condition" "history" path so many speak of [;)]

One of the other issues with low mileage cars (apart from the fact Porsche's fare better when driven regularly) is that you pay a premium for that attractively low mileage which then puts you off driving it as much as you would like for fear of it no longer being a low mileage car and wiping the premium you paid, down the bin.

Always better to go for a mid-mileage car (say between 60k to 100k miles), save a few £k and not feel guilty about driving it as often as you can :)

This lead to me buying a 993 with 67k on the clock as an every day car. I love it so much, I haven't even touched the 996 for 3 months and am now considering selling it.

Of course we're a little biased on here ([;)]), but I'm glad the aircooled has won out[:D]. Having said that, 996 Turbos seem to be tremendous value for money at the moment [:)].

Good to know ALL low mileage owners fall into the same category Spy - we are all so wrong, worried if not petrified about residual values and closet happy nutters who dare not drive the car.. [:(]

I think not [;)]

I am quite partial to the 993 - I was extremely tempted by a C2S or C4S and kept trying to justify one but couldn't as it was a tight squeeze for my 10 year old !

I use mine a lot - 174k now - still much admired - pic is it on show at a German Show in Beaulieu Motor Museum last week.

What other make of car could look that good and still that modern after 174 k miles. I spotted a 964 cab at OPC Colchester in for a service on Sunday and that had done 164k miles but u would never have known.
