Having recently had my car serviced, i was pointed out that the front disks need replacing because they were below 26.00mm and caliper slides need repacement. I this a difficult DIY job and how do you repace the front disks and should i use drilled disks.

Piece of p1ss.

Jack car up and take off wheels. Using a long wrench take of the caliper bolts and using some wire hand the caliper making sure you don't kink or snap the metal pipe. Unscrew the disc securing screws with an impact driver to make sure you don't damage the screw heads. Remove old disc and clean up the hub with a v.fine wire brush. Clean off new discs, put on car and put screws back in. Attach the caliper to the hub and torque to 63 ft-lb.
Clean the caliper while you there and should be job done.
Make sure you bed your discs and pads in according to manufacturers recommendations.

There's a picture guide on p-car.com for the 993, http://p-car.com/diy/brakepads/, basically the same.

Depends on what your using it for Mal

For normal road use I'd probably stick with OEM discs and pads.

For track, I'll let you know when I can finally get mine sorted! but at present I'm running pagid blue pads, standard discs and SRF fluid. But as I said my setups still not as good as I want it.

When I looked into cross drilled discs they were only made by Sebco and Zimmerman, not Porsche. Although I believe Zimmerman make Porsche discs but they are uncoated so they rust. If that bothers you there are plenty of threads on here or Rennlist about what to use as a suitable coating.
But, according to a motor factors who sell Zimmerman discs they can't get hold of the x drilled ones, only being able to supply 964 RS ones.
If your only using for road use, x drilled brakes are more for looks than anything. But they are a lot more money than standard Zimmerman discs. I paid £42 each incl. vat from GSF for my discs. The cheapest x drilled ones I could find were Sebco at £68 each + vat.
