First message posted on the forum people, so be gentle with me!!!

What does anyone use to remove road grime and dirt from the rear plastic screen???

I have tried normal car wash with a soft rag, but no significant improvement seen!!!

Any suggestions please?

There are proper cream and pastes to clean the rear windows, works amazingly and seem's to keep it clean inside for quite a long time.

NeilandSue,

Welcome to the forum!

In this thread (click here), there are a lot of links to various common questions about the Boxster - including cleaning the rear screen. I assume you mean the plastic screen, not the later glass one?

I personally use something called "Novus" which I bought in the USA $3.99 for a 500 ml bottle, spray on wipe off. It's clear and doesn't scratch.

About once a year I use the Porsche supplied cleaner as a small build up of muck does not get shifted by the Novus (or maybe I don't use it often enough). The Porsche stuff does a good job, but is a little abrasive, so apply with care, and it will stain white if you get it on the hood.

Others have recommended "Hindsight", the Zymol plastic screen cleaner kit, and probably more...

Don't use glass cleaner though - some will melt the plastic []

Gary,
any idea on the name and place where you bought it????

i would highly recommend either the stuff that porsche OPcs sell or "hindsight" zymol stuff, both are a cream and will help keep the plastic supple as well as stop it going yellow.

don't forget to do the Boxster chop (stop roof at half open and knock out any creases using the flat of your hand)when ever you put the roof down.

Give the Boxster a final "CHOP" and buy an SLK and loose any credibility with any other road user who knows anything about the way a car handles, goes or stops!!!

i don't really mind doing the Boxster Chop, it's now become a habbit, and think of all those extra calories i burn while performing it..[:)]

Actually "Hindsight" is a different product to the Zymol Screen clean kit (which I think you have).

Good to know it works well though.

I used to have an MX5 and used this product from Renovo on the plastic window. Worked very well, although a little expensive for the size of the bottle. Presume it would produce a similar result on a Boxster window?

Why buy a slk when you can buy a proper sports car[;)]
