How to modify 997 C2S PSE?

I have had the sports exhaust fitted to C2S 3.8 gen 1 with the exhaust switch on the dashboard - I don't have Sports chrono package.

My understanding is it can be:
1. Switched off (LED off) - behaves like original exhaust
2. Switched on (LED on) - sports sound enabled except for a mid range speed cut off where it works like #1
3. Permanently on by unplugging the brown connector in the engine bay

However the speed cut off doesn't seem to apply if you are accelerating hard - wishfull thinking?

I have read that the two common ways to defeat the mid range speed cut off is to:
1. unplug/loosen the brown connector and tape it up to stop dirt getting in.
2. unplug/plug the vacuum hose - sounds difficult?

I have also read that leaving it permanently on can cause the dashpot to seize up.

I would like to understand a bit more about how it works: electrics and vacuum so that I could achieve:
4. Switched on (LED on) - sports sound regardless of speed with option to switch off via the switch

Kind regards

Hi Simon,

Don't pay too much attention to LED on or off - in the early cars the LED on means quiet mode, off means loud. But then it changed somewhere in production, maybe MY06 ?

As for your wish, unfortunately you can't get to no 4, since if it's connected the baffles are working and will quieten the exhaust (and the LED will come on) between circa 20 and 40 mph, regardless of load. If it's disconnected, it's loud all the time. You can't cut-out the speed-sensitive nature of the baffle I'm afraid.

Certainly in my car, when in auto-mode shall we say, it still baffles the exhuast under full throttle between those speeds - i.e. loud-quiet-loud.

I personally disconnected the brown multi-plug, as that's how my OPC service manager showed me. However, using the car for long-distance commuting I soon reconnected the bloody thing ! If it's a weekend toy then it's much easier to enjoy and live with the 'sports sound' !
