How to remove front bumper?

Haynes manual says it's so easy ! But doesn't help with the Carrera. I want to drop the lower valance off to fit a rubber spoiler.

Thanks in advance.

Nigel

It says in my book:-

Remove parking lights
remove fog lights
remove screw from protective bumper strip (across centre of bumper)
pull strip off (carefully)
remove nuts securing bellows to wings, and pull bellows out to clear studs from wing
remove bumper securing nuts
remove bumper

Then reverse - easy.

Of course, I have never done it, but....

Do as John says, but you still have to remove the head lights washers. Would suggest that you have someone else to help as the bumper is heavy and you will need someone to hold the bumper while you remove the washers. I have done this work in the last couple of months. Good luck.

I would get a new set of bellows if yous have not been off for some time, the studs have a tendency to rust and come out of the rubber[]

Do you mean the sport lip spoiler?

Are you sure you need to remove the valance to do this? I have replaced my spoiler, and as I recall, all holes were reasonably accessible, so i would think you clould drill through from the underneath/wheel arches.

Thanks for your comments guys. there is clearly two options here, one to remove and fit, the other to drill the holes in-situ. I'm off to see a friend with a ramp to investigate further and will let you know.

Thanks again.

Shelby,

Are you sure your not getting confused?

The 'smile' is between the bonnet and the top of the bumper assembly, as is not a spoiler, the lip spoiler is fitted as sport equipment (normally as a package with the rear tea tray spoiler) and fits below the valance and runs round to the lower edges of the wheel arches.

It's on!!

Looks great and has given the car the balance that was missing before. Had no chance to feel the effect yet! Ended up removing the bumper assembly and drilling the holes. I must say that the Porsche is not user friendly in this regard, I've had similsr age BMWs for years and they are so much easier, even i can do it!!!

Now it's off to try and fathom how to drill the rear shelf to fit inertia reel seatbelts. Rear screen out?

Thanks anyway for your comments they kept my spirits up!
