How to replace hatch release cable

Dear all,

I hope that you'll excuse me asking such a trivial question after today's events in London, but has anyone replaced the cable that connects the rotating cam to the hatch release mechanism? I have managed (relatively easily) to remove and replace the driven end (that attached to the cam), but am having problems removing it from the other end. Do I need to somehow remove the rotating assembly from the boot wall?

Whilst we're at it, I've also had a go this lunchtime at replacing the rubber covers on the clutch and brake pedal, since the originals were worn through. Has anyone found a method of putting the new ones on whilst leaving your fingers intact?
Cheers,

Graham

I haven't done the hatch cable but the rotating part of the assembly is held on by 2 10mm(?) nuts - you'll need to pop out the two arms that go off to the catches to get it out completely.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]To replace pedal rubbers, heat the new ones up in very hot water to make them soft and stretchy before fitting.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
