How usable are the rear seats of a 996

Hi, this is my first post here. In a couple of months its time for a change of car and I'm seriously considering a 911.

I'm working away alot at the moment and don't have much time so although I know I could answer this question to my local dealer I just don't have the time.

I would need the car to be useable for my six year old daughter who is quite tall. What's the general consensus on the useability of the rear seats?

Thanks chaps and sorry for bothering you with a fairly simple question.

Regards
Gary

I have a very tall six year old (Jamie), and a small 3 year old (Max). Absolutely no problem for them - plenty of room for growth. Out of interest much roomier than an Audi TT.

Go for it Gary,

Thanks, I'm working away from home for a little while, I plan to buy when I've finished - can't leave one of these in the garage can I!

Ditto Spizz's comments, I had a TT and my 996 is much better in the back for my 4 & 7 year old with plenty of room to grow.

Cheers

I have twins who turned 7 this week, both average height for their age. They have no problems in the back of my wife's 996 C2 Cab on daily school runs, etc, except in three circumstances:

1. If I am driving rather than my wife, I have the driver's seat right back (I am 6'3") and this leaves a bit of a squeeze for someone's ankles. It just about works becasue they can get their feet under the driver's seat, so it is only the ankles that need to fit in.

2. On long journeys they can't get off to sleep as the upper part of the rear seats slopes inwards, pushing their heads forward.

3. When the roof is down, they get blown to bits in the back!

Otherwise, they love it to bits.

Spizz, I didn't know that. Very interesting. I'll bear it in mind when we get a new one. Wife insisted on the Cab, and then promptly declared it too windy!

I have 14 Y/O & 13 Y/O daughters, and 10 y/o son. All would rather sit in the back of the 996TT rather than travel in the family Espace.

I have carried an adult in the back for 15 mins. Although she complained getting in and out of the car, she was quite comfortable whilst driving

Thanks guys, there goes the wife's objections then!

Should be no problem as I persuaded her to let me buy an Esprit while she was pregnant.

Have recently changed to a 996 and have a five year son and he's happy - more room compared to a 968.

One thing possibly to be aware is head support. At some age (hopefully 9yrs+ !) the passenger torso/legs will still fit OK but the head/neck has no rear support as it is all will be above the seat back - not ideal.

Out of interest - has anyone come across any products to solve this ? (eg. a "slip over" headrest where its sits astride the seat back)
