Does anyone know if the rear bodywork of a turbo/S is wider than the rear view/wing mirrors? I need to work out how much clearance I have to get one in my garage - I have about 5cm both sides wing mirror to wing mirror for my C4.

This is one you'll never work out with a tape measure. You'd seriously kick yourself if you drop 30+ grand on one only to find it doesn't quite fit.
Best thing to do is as I did and have a kind S owner come over and drive their car in for you to check it fits ok.
Mine's in a standard single garage and it fits like a glove. I can still get in and out ok as the middle of the car is a lot narrower than the hips.

Here are some stats
wheelbase
All models
2272 mm
Track (front / rear)
Standard models
1405 / 1444 mm
'S' models
1405 / 1536 mm
Length, Width
All models
length: 4245 mm
width: 1735 mm - 'S' models 1795 mm
The S is a must have model - if it does not fit garage suggest you move house![]
Thanks for everyone's responses. I'm fortunate enough to have a twin garage with no centre wall so getting out of the car is no problem once inside the garage- it's just getting through one of the single door openings in the first place that I was concerned about. However, looks like I'll be fine going by the rear track stats. I'm after a turbo, by the way, after 8 years of C4 ownership.
The Treasury (aka my wife) wants to know whether the extra power is worth the, not in-substantial premium. Surely the answer is "yes"..........isn't it???

Oh yeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssss.
Be warned the difference between standard and turbo may only be 1.5 secs quicker 0-62 and 5 secs quicker to 0-100, but the difference is quite unbelieveable. The first time I test drove one it scared me how fast it got to 100, 2nd time it was exciting and most concerning was that by the 3rd/4th time I was used to it!!!.
Have a look at the "twin turbo" message

Mine too. My doors are the smallest standard size and are only 6'6" wide. It's tight but it can be done. The front is narrower than the back and by the time you get to the rear wings you can use your wing mirrors to judge.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssss!!. Deposit now put down on a silver 1997 tt with factory X50 option (430bhp), to be picked up in a couple of weeks. Now, just got to sell my C4.................or I could keep that as well.....................OK, maybe not - remembered a condition of getting the turbo was a new kitchen for my wife.
Hi Dylan
It's coming from a dealer near Leeds (Driven Image - so far so good), so I had Strasse do a PPI. Various oil leaks and other bits and pieces identified will be rectified before I get my hands on it.

Great news Stewart! 993TT now that's a car [] With X50 as well - even better!
Whose going to the Oct 9th meet? It would be great to see some of these "new" cars that are now in the hands of forum members. I've booked to go but its a long drive from Glasgow and I'm now wondering if I can justify the 600 miles (now if it was A roads I'd do it - but all that motorway at UK speeds? - guess I could try "no motorways" on the satnav...[&:])
hm... just tried that in Google Maps - "avoid highways" gives 9 hours 38 Mins (A6) - vs 5:07 on the M6 (although I suspect it will not take that long)

Congratulations, about time someone up north bought the car, with the 430bhp factory upgrade you;'ve got a bargain.
Very strange I contacted Crig Addison about the car and he never mentioned the upgrade and it wasnt mentioned in the Pistonheads adverts, otherwise I would have made the 4 hour journey to see it as he assured meit was in top condition.
