......if a scribbled note with mobile number was left on your car saying it had been photographed and could they have the last four digits of the chassis number???

Your views please.....

If it was at the festival I guess they were interested in your Cup car. Sure I have seen the Vin on the Cup forum......

They probably are interested in the racing history or they have models of the car.

OR maybe they are looking for one to steal to satisfy a customer order ;O)

Why not phone and ask? They are probably PCGB members.

I would guess that this could be the same guy who asked me! Chap in 964RS maritime blue. Sorry can't remember his name and I don't mean Marks Car. He asked me as he wanted to start a database of known cars. I'm pretty naive and tended to believe him so he got mine! Have met him before at a few other meets.
And think about it more he's not gonna get very far with the last four digits of your chassis number anyhow!!!

edited for spilling!!

The same guy asked me Laurence.....Bear in mind that new cars now days have the vin on display in the screens. You won't get far with it.

Hi Guys, Martin Lawence is the guys name and he has owned his RS for at least 5 years and his motive is purely innocent.I have known Martin for years and between us we collect last 4 digets, colours, spec etc. I am sure Mel has a list as well.
Most of the later cars numbers are there for all to see but you would be suprised to know that many owners do not realise this!
My car is 1975 and I have only seen one with a later number 1985 I think Rubystone with tech art brake ducts.
Martins car is 0079 the earliest I have seen closely followed by the ex Des Sturdee car.
I think I have about 40 numbers.

Hi guys. I am the offender. Firstly, i'd like to apologise to the two owners whose cars i left notes on. With hindsight, this probably wasn't a great idea but, after speaking to 11 RS owners on Sunday, none of whom had the slightest problem divulging their chassis numbers, i didn't think anything of it. It was a last ditch attempt to gain an extra couple of numbers on a quick scout around the car park before leaving.
As Jeff said previously, there is nothing 'fishy' going on, just a hobby. (And Jeff, mine's 0076 not 0079, but i'll let you off this time)
Once again, apologies to those offended, and many thanks to those of you who weren't.

Martin

Wouldn't mind seeing a published list when you have completed you mission.

Would be interesting to how many of each colour are in da club and if there are any consecutive cars.

Good luck

Thanx for sticking your head over the parapet Martin.

As I explained on the phone, cloning is a concern of mine and there are known examples of early cars, possibly some 964C2's posing as RS's and a 993C2/RS I know of......

However, keep up the good work -I would like to see the collection at some point.

And Jiff, I wish I had the time!!

interesting..

didn't realise folk try and clone RS's!

wonder if anyone would notice my targa roof , if I tried to do that on mine ! [8D]

Hi, guys

Thanks for all the support. If anyone would like to email me offline with a picture and chassis number to boost the collection, it would be most appreciated. Obviously, i will understand if no-one takes me up on this!

Also, any ideas why my profile comes up as 'non member' when i'm a fully paid up member?

Regards
Martin
