How's this spec?

Kaz

New member
I went into my local dealer yesterday to discuss buying a new 911S. This is the spec I came up with (given my budget). Have I missed anything off that really effects re-sale in 3 years?

911S - Speed Yellow (I know it's a love/hate colour - but I love it. Also tempted by Guards Red)
Extras
TPM
Sports exhaust
ParkAssist
Navigation module for PCM (having never relied on sat nav is this desirable?)
CD autochanger

The total came to £72,644 on the road (gulp!)

I'm keen to get my order in ASAP so any thoughts/advise is appreciated. Thanks all.

Kaz, Does it come with HID headlamps as standard ?
Cruise control is not alot of money as an extra.

I have had very good experiences with the factory Sat Nav, to update the information is expensive when it comes round to it.
Some may say have the TomTom or likes and save the money, however I didn't want the mess of cable etc and find the PCM to be very quick and its maps/route seem to find some great roads.

I'd say your colour will have the largest effect on residuals more so than the spec...
Not exactly residuals but selling it may be easier.. But I like the colours [:D]

most people will want PCM but the rest is more to do with colour choice ...i think the 997 looks great in both your colour choices but resale probably better with meteor for example(tho not a reason for not going with the colour you want!)[:D]

Great choice, I like both of the colours you're considering but confess that this is a management decision in this household - I spec the car, she selects the colour and trim [;)]. I would save weight and money and drop the CD changer, with the MP3 format it's possible to fit around 9 audio CDs on one disk and this has worked fine for me. I'm in a minority I know but I chose to spend my options budget on items that are either difficult or impossible to retrofit rather than PSE which can be retrofitted for a small premium over the options price. I keep dropping hints to the kids about PSE (they appreciate the sound more than me) for Christmas/birthday/fathers day but no luck as yet [&:].

Kaz,

You can have mine for £10k less with huge spec and X51 !

Yves

if i was you kaz i would be on the phone to yves immediately[:D]
lovely colour and spec

Hi,
I agree with Allan. I ordered a CD Autochanger with mine - that was before I clued into MP3. I wouldn't order it again as it takes up too much boot space, particularly if you have sat.nav because that's where the DVD module sits.
Regards,
Clive
PS Speed Yellow is fantastic!

dyllan,

Many thanks, you are right of course, one of the best of its type available in the UK at present !

Dont want to sell really but could be persuaded.....

Yves

Clive, we lose additional space with ours, the 997C2 has the CD player in a much friendlier place [;)]
I agree about the MP3 player, however I do still have 6 discs in the loader..[&:]

Sports Chrono Plus is a handy option and may appeal to future buyers of your sporty choice of colours....

I dropped the CD changer in favour of IPOD connection (which I haven't got round to yet).

Sat Nav isn't the best on the market and overpriced but really convenient over portable unit and most people expect it when buying a premium second hand car now, and even more in the future.

I'd definitely look at sports seats. They make a big difference IMO and you feel more at one with the car when pressing on. They're not an expensive option, from memory (althought the adaptive ones are pricey).

Colour? Go for it...

Peter

Sports Chrono Plus
Short shift
Skip the PSE and buy the x51 upgrade (includes PSE) goes like stink, works well with the above three
Bose stereo upgrade, presonal views abound here but I feel its a world better than the standard stereo fitted.

You could buy Yves second hand get a great spec and save a bundle but once Yves has realsied what he's done and tastes life again without the x51 C2S, he'll have to shoot himself[]

I'd recommend the 3 spoke sports steering wheel rather than the standard ship's tiller. Also, the coloured crests for the wheel centres set the car off nicely (esp if you have a strong colour like yellow or red). I'd also second Peter W's suggestion of sports seats, particularly if you're of a slim build as you can otherwise slide around on the leather when you're pressing on. None of these are going to hurt much if you're already forked out more than 70 grand.

The deed is done - I've placed my order, paid the deposit and now all I have to do is wait till the end of October / start of November as I have been given an October built slot.

This is the final spec I went for. Thanks for the help and suggestions -

911 Carrera 2 S - Speed Yellow
ParkAssist
Sports Exhaust System
Sat Nav
Sport Chrono Package
Sports Seats

I was offered £19k for my 2004 M3 so will try to sell it privately, but I know that's the worse case scenario in terms of price. I just have to try to be patient now !!!!!!!
