I think I recall someone mentioning that I could fit 1986 model 944 Turbo hubs onto my 1984 lux. Can anyone confirm if this is the case?

I was thinking that if the hubs fit the early car then the only thing that can be different about the strut is how it connects to the top mount. Maybe its only the springs that are different. Did the 86 turbo use the later wishbones like the late model lux?

All 1986 models used the same 951 prefixed part. This was dimensionally identical to the K70 derived (used on the Golf1 too) steel wishbone. The wishbone changed for the 1987 model year with the introduction of ABS: again both turbocharged and normally aspirated cars used the same 951 prefixed part. 951 suspension is not fundamentally different from series one or series two 944-type though.

I believe that you can use the hubs and brakes from a 1986 model year 951 on a series one; but its been a long time and Im far from sure now. I can half remember everything, which is even more fustrating. If I have a momentof clarity/recollection then I will post again. [:D]
