For some months now, my 996 C4S has suffered an intermittent EML light issue, diagnostics show misfire on cylinder 5. Despite changing the coil pack, fitting a new spark plug and swopping injectors, it still persists. My specialist believes its down to a sticking hydraulic lifter. I should mention revving the engine usually puts the light and warning out, there is a you tube video that shows the same issue.
The question is, do I change all the lifters on the same bank, or just those on cylinder 5, are hydraulic lifter failures a common issue? it is something I would not expect at 65.000 miles. I have put some Luqi Moly hydraulic lifter treatment in the motor, not sure how successful it will be, I guess time will tell.
