I've officially gone.
The Carrera Register has now been handed over to Charles Marsland.
It's been good fun and I've loved almost all of it!
A big thank you to all you forum junkies, in particular Richard Bernau who single handedly holds this thing together - there's not much that gets past him. Thanks Richard.
Another big thank you to Geoff Ives - this club would not be what it is without you.
Thanks to Paul & Mary Kelley for all your support, not only to the register but also to the Isle of Man Region.
To all the Manx Tour visitors - I'm sure we'll see you all again, but next time maybe you'll be a bit quicker over the mountain!! Catch me if you can ........!
All the admin staff - a 'special' thanks to Sophia Scarsbrook (since left the fold) and all who support the workers - thanks guys.
Off the top of my head, Peter Bull, Barry Smith, Richard Hudson-Evans, Steven Mummery, Mike Rees, Mike Chadwick, Paul Dangerfield, Greg Cook, Roger Lucas, Dave Shadwell, Steve Darnell, Chris Davenport, Derek Sharpe, Gordon McKay, Simon & Rob (the Admiral) Faulkner, Fred Hampton (keeps my 356 on the map) Peter Schutz and all who contributed to my book. I know I've not mentioned anywhere near enough names, apologies if I've left you off, but thanks to you all for your support and friendship.
Too all the far flung friends I have made, Tom Trudell, Brice Kadel and Paul Cadrobbi (PCA), Mario Lusardi (Italy) and my friends in Stuttgart at the Porsche AG factory, Klaus Parr, Tilman Brodbeck and Klaus Bischof.
My register assistants over the years, Lloyd Langley, Simon Davidson, John Chesworth, Anthony Shuker, Alan Armstrong and Graham Ford - thanks guys, your input was much appreciated.
Finally, just a reminder, that this register represents one of the greatest road going Porsches ever made and possibly ever will be made. Please continue your support and give Charles as much of the pleasure as I've had. It's not easy and sometimes a thankless task, but always at the end is a car that will never be forgotten - the 911 Carrera is dead - long live the 911.
You can catch me (on occasions) in Total 911 magazine - and never forget the first time you lost the rear end of a 911 ......
It's been a blast.
