I dont like buying cheap but what do you think?

My son has just fitted coilovers to his Mk 1 Golf (with more than a little help from me of course [;)])

The adjustable collars rub slightly when it is lowered so I suggested wheel shims. TUV approved ones are expensive but I found these

I consider that they will probably be ok. They are after all sandwiched between wheel and disc so as long as they self centre or can be centred I would recommend him to go with it.

What do you think?

Could be a cheaper alternative for our cars (as shims only)

I have something similar on my Golf. Thin shims so shouldn't need super duper expensive ones. Tell him to buy some (or buy them for him).[:)]

I'm not so sure myself. You can crush aluminium and there doesn't seem to be that greater bearing surface. If the rear face of the wheel is waffled as well that would reduce the bearing further. If the shim does start to crush this will loosen the wheel nuts which will allow further offset bearing on the shim, which will crush it further.

For the sake of £20 I would go with the piece of mind of the proper shims.
