I have a bodyshop recommendation

I had some bodywork carried out by a Porsche approved bodyshop last year and I can't say I would wholeheartedly recommend them to any one for further work. I've just had a job done on my car by a small outfit in Coventry with excellent results. They are Manhattan Motors Tel 02476673858 - speak to Alan.

My experience with the two bodyshops confirms that you don't always get what you pay for. Also, don't judge a book by the cover. Manhattan have very basic looking premises that look quite ramshackle on the outside. However, they have all the necessary equipment and skills to do a top notch job.

No affiliation. just someone happy to get a good quality service for a change.

Hi Pickled Piper,

What was the name of the Porsche approved bodyshop? Why would you not recommend them?

Hi Greenerm,

Please email me if you want to know the name of the bodyshop. I don't want to contravene any forum policies by posting the name on here.

I initially selected them because of recommendations on this forum. The car was returned to me in a very grubby state. Clearly, no seat covers had been used. There were several marks and debris on and in the seats and no attempt had been made to clean the interior. The car had been re-assembled in a hurry. Many parts were misaligned and poorly fitted with sealant residue visible around a window.

In fairness to be bodyshop they agreed the car should never have been returned in this state and were very apologetic. They also had no hesitation in fully rectifying the work. It appears they were extremely busy and had also assigned someone to carry out some tasks beyond their skill and experience level.

My intention in posting this was not to dam the Porsche approved bodyshop. They have a good reputation and many satisfied customers based on recommendations I have seen on here. I wanted to relay my experiences in going the approved Porsche route and also the non-approved, local, small business route. The Porsche approved bodyshops are very expensive and for this you get a lifetime guarantee on the work.

It's up to each individual to make their own value judgement.
