I joined TIPEC

Finally got around to it yesterday, bought a 2-year subscription.

I've been so impressed by the last two Walton Hall events, that I thought I'd support the cause [:)][:)]

It'll be interesting to see how their magazine compares with PP for content.

John Simms & I went to one of their meetings last week to see Andrew Sweetenham speaking about trackdays.

If you havn't heard Andrew in action, you're missing a very accomplished speaker with a wealth of knowledge about trackdays and circuit driving, combined with an ability to raise everyone's enthusiasm.

It was nice to meet up with Ian Hicks again, and some other familiar faces.

A good turn out of 944's as well (I think there were 6 including mine and Johns) and some friendly ribbing with the 911's [:D][:D]

hmmm 11K

Assuming you will miss the performance its not going to be easy to get close with even double that.

Japanese vehicles may be an option, Supra or Skyline.

BMW M3 Turbo?

Early Boxter convert to GT3 (accidental slip of GT£ which might be appropriate!)

You might find you miss it so much you buy another - how much will it cost to get to your current spec? and piece of mind - rebuilt gearbox, overhauled engine, etc etc.

On the other hand it must be risky on the licence having such a quick car so maybe you should just buy a MINI - cant see it somehow [;)]

Or with the skyline you could break the 1000BHP barrier, may cost more than 11k though!.

As for the 422 it's still on the drive - but the Irish buyer is heading this way today. I can already feel the emotions stirring inside me knowing that my 9 year 944 Turbo relationship is about to come to an end. :-(

Regards,
Andrew

Cheer up, he might not be able to insure it [:)][:)][:)]

450 BHP should be reliably attainable in your proposed new project. More would be a bonus [:)]

At least the 944 is a reliable car.

I'd be severely pi??ed off if I'd bought a boxster or 996 and had the RMS problem, particularly with the way the club are mincing around with it rather than supporting members who's investment is about to pour down the drain [:(][:(]

PS
You'd probably be faster round Snetterton in my range rover than I'd be in my 944S [:D][:D][:D] I think a Sunbeam Rapier would be more fun than a 307 Rapier [:D][:D]

450bhp in a 1000kg 944... Now thats gona shift big time.

Wish i had the bottle to strip out mine but its in too good a condition. You could make a fortune selling origional bits off the 944t. Prob make £3k-£4k stripping it out and selling the bits you dont need.

Mind you kind of limits you if/when you want to sell the car.

I was seriously thinking of a VX Turbo as a road car a few weeks ago - I think they'd be very capable. The VXR (preferably with the Ohlins option) would be better yet but they are probably all sold out by now.

Sat in one a couple of weeks back - my 4rse was too fat for the seat [:)] Really uncomfortable. Really need one for each foot [:D]

The 422 has gone and is now residing in the Republic of Ireland.
[:(] Guess we can all stop dreaming of buying it off you now...

Jim.

PS You need to change your sig - sorry!

I agree with Rick on this one. Andrew even coped well with the usefull (Not! [;)]) comments from the side lines.

Sorry to hear about the departure of the beast Andrew, but I look forward to seeing the development of a track 944 without the constraints of formula regs. How quick can a 944 go? [:)]

I too am looking to join TIPEC though only in tandem with PCGB. PCGB seem to have a much greater regional representation but TIPEC seems more budget orientated and less geared to the owners of new Porsches. From what I can see, many are members of both anyway.

I've sat in one and it seemed OK, but I haven't driven one yet. I've pretty much decided not to buy one but I'm still going to drive it.

Perhaps I should clarify that I joined TIPEC in ADDITION to my membership of PCGB, Rennlist, Titanic etc.

Even so, at the Titanic arranged Southern 944 meet yesterday, we arranged 8 944's to visit the classic car show at Battle Abbey. We out numbered the official TIPEC contingent by 2-1 [:D][:D]

Nice friendly guys. They nearly came and joined us parked in a horseshoe shape around the plaque epicting the spot where Harold fell .... Pictures later this week ...

The thing about Rennlist meetings ... they're so far away. And the steering wheel's on the wrong side [:D][:D][:D]

Shame to hear the beast has finally gone Andrew, I had to leave the country to control my chequebook. Every time I looked at your website I started dreaming of wild p/ex plans with my Turbo going to you. Thank god its sold[;)]

I fondly remember the day you were rearranging my innards around Silverstone only for us to discover that knocking sound was the rear hub coming loose [] (what was the torque that bolt had to be? )

Just joined this forum, to have a look around. Lo and behold a little mention of theTitanic Battle 944 Classic, SCZ and I and seven others (including Rick) all drove right over Harolds grave! Another place in the history books for 944s.
