I know it's not a Porsche but.....

Have always wanted one of these gents so have splashed out on one before the prices go through the roof. Needs a bit of work but nothing too major (fingers crossed). Been in Holland since 1986 and off the road from 2003 so only done 76k. The right colour as well (according to my Dad!). Proper 2 seater not a +2 as well. Bit of welding to the floor and a paint and top end rebuild should see it on the road.

Very very nice. Well done.

I wish I had the tools, talent and confidence to take on projects or work myself (Porsche or otherwise).

very nice, I love old Jags (used to have an old XJ6 until recently as my daily driver). There are some articles in this month's Practical Classics magazine about buying cheap E-Types.

You bought it then!

My father-in-law has a 1973, 6.0 V12 that he has had loads of work done on. If you need any pointers on people to speak to I'll find out for you. I know he's had the flywheel considerably lightened recently and it is a bit of a must do apparently.

Seemed to be quite lucky with this one. Was advertised in Holland on car and classics and had not had much interest. With being a right hooker abroad, it was always going to be not a great thing to sell. The guy was getting daft offers. Flew over yesterday for a look and to do a deal with him. Car is very sound and all matching numbers to which is even nicer.

wow :D I feel thats going to be a labour of love. Always a joy to see one on the road, good luck with it.

Sulzeruk, hope you don't mind me asking but are "mechanic" in the sense that you work on cars for customers? Only asking as you're not a million miles away from me so just interested to know.

Well done, the e type is my ultimate dream car and I think the shape and styling is still awsome even now[:)][8D]

nice one, alisdair, totally beautiful and so much road presence, cant wait to see end result, regards jason p

Well done ... one of my favourite all time classics .. pity not a Cab, then I would think a lightweight replica ... [:)]

Have always wanted one! Have spoken to lots of folk that are saying the same thing, 2011 is the 50th anniversary of the E type so prices will probably got up no end for good, well restored and kept examples. I prefer the look of the S1 cars but the prices are just stupid for them, even projects worse than this are £15K and above.

Really nice Alasdair [:)]
Have always wanted one for myself. Too bad there are only handful of those here up north.
