Evening all, well got my new discs and pads on, but could I remove a single plate retaining bolt, thats a defo no!!! Tried everything on one caliper including welding nut to them but no joy. So got some of the bird metal nail files and scraped the worst of white corrosion stuff out and then ground the edge of the pads, I know very cowboy slap dash but by this point its a headache. Also sheared one bleed nipple so had to try juggle caliper about before bolting it on so the air was most likely at outer pots and I seem to have got a decent pedal after bleeding so heres hoping.
How much hassle have I likely to have put off for the future, I am hoping the way it is the now will be fine till can redo the job with completly rebuild calipers, anybody else had as much hassle as me. Also what method does everybody use for tightning the bearings as I just put them to where they were before stripping. On reassembly I had tiny little amount of movement (from past experience not enough to fail an MOT) at the 12-6 position on shaking the wheel, does this sound ok.
Also I have snapped fuel tank strap on exhuast side which I have mentioned on other post, but is it ok to drive for a wee while as long as I dont fill tank very high. Its been ages since I have driven the car and determined to have a go tomorrow to test my new brakes for a few days, am I asking for trouble? Cheers all
