I like it here

Been on this forum for a while now and I just wanted to say that there seems to be a really decent bunch of people here. I haven't met any of you in person due to my enforced exile in Sweden for a while but first impressions count and they are all good!

I also have an old TVR and and I use PH for gassing about that but ferk me, they are a moaning, vindictive, obstinate old bunch. The 944 scene seems to be populated by a far more agreeable group of people and I am really looking forward to coming back to the UK next year and participating in some events and getting to know a few fellow enthusiasts.

Love in over. Just wanted to share some appreciation.

I hear what you're saying about PH; I've been a member on there for many years but crumbs do they like a drama on there. I don't post that regularly on there these days mainly because of the quantity of pointless drivel that gets spouted...

I've not been here long but it seems like a friendly place and I'm pretty hooked on my 944, so I too look forward to a long stay :)

Even this thread,if it was on PH, would likely turn into a fight or a discussion about values. Just about managed to wean myself of it. Much more grown up on here, mostly.

Tom, thanks. As moderators, and I do admin as well, it's a thankless task and the odd compliment is worth more than any number of criticisms! [:)]

Just wait 'till you've met some of us. That fond sentiment will evaporate remarkably quickly .... [:D]

There is a straight up no nonsense characteristic that has breed here as a result of it being a common character trait of several of the contributors. PH is the complete opposite which is why nearly all my PH posting now is not in the Porsche section.

It's also true that many of us have met face to face & are therefore likely to be a bit more civil to each other...

Or maybe we're all just jolly nice people [:D]

Very true - on both accounts...[:D][:D]

When you get back to blighty keep an eye on the events thread and the FB page, always things going on and you can't beat meeting the guys and knowing who you are chatting or asking help from on the other end of the keyboard

Look forward to meeting you when you're back in the UK Tom. Lots of sill war stories to share.
Completely agree, great bunch of people on here.

Yep, a great bunch of people, even after you meet them! I've been absent from the forum for a while because I had to take the 944 off the road, but now it's sorted I can't wait to get back into things with the guys here. I joined a local car club a few years back, and although there were some guys there who were closer to, erm, 'my age' (<30) there was much less of a community feel than there was amongst the people here who only meet sporadically. I let my local car club membership lapse after the first year, but I kept up with the PCGB membership (except when the car broke and I needed money for nappies [;)]).

But yeah, it's a fantastic forum and made me glad that I chose a 944 instead of the other cars I was looking at. Paul is a big part of making it like that.

It's meeting like minded people in the flesh as well as this forum that keeps my enthusiasm focused, so I take my hat off to you Tom for all that you're doing to yours despite the relative isolation.

I look forward to seeing it for real one day [:)]
