I loved my Boxster Today Post

In response to the (I humbly suggest generic Forum) every post in the forum is IT'S a disaster and the Boxster is a "TERRIBLE CAR" perception .... I propose we create a thread where every one just adds on their own.. "I love it" comments... so All of us who had a good day, week, drive experience .. add...

Haven't used her this week - but I'm going to take her to work tomorrow. I really wanted to use her more often - but have been restraining myself until the clutch slave cylinder replacement recall work is undertaken on 10 Nov!

This morning I drove a 997GT3. This afternoon I drove a 987 Boxster 'S'

Neither of them leaked oil, blew up, and no paint fell off. They both did what they were designed to do, and both were exquisite. I do love the Boxster [;)]

Absolutely. Used Mine Tuesday, today (top down both days), again tomorrow, and will also Saturday and Sunday of course (including a 30-40 mile run to somewhere for lunch I hope).

You can be sure I love it to bits... not too many bits though... :p

I was thinking the same thing - but maybe we need a special section of the forum named 'We love our Boxsters (or 996's, etc), yes we do'.
I bought my '02 986 nearly 3 years ago with 32k on the clock and its now just about 50k. I started by just using the car
on odd days in the week and at week-ends, but the car is just too good to be left on the drive so I now use it daily to make the 40 mile
round trip commute, and in fact on any other excuse I can think of. Sheer driving pleasure !

I love my boxter too, I defend it vigorously to colligues in their merc SL's etc, that's why I am on my third one, unless I find something that really excites me I will probley buy number four next year. I have (touch wood) had no mechanical problems in some 80,000 miles of Boxter motoring. Yes I did have blocked water outlets that cost me £1,750 to put right but as I said in my original thread that was my fault. Mind you it would have been nice if Porsche recommend you check these. However, for a top of the range (price wise) motor car " the paint work is cr@#P". That's my opinion and as the owner of three new Boxter S's I think I have the right to express my opinion. I own 3 other cars a Jag, a Suzki vitra and a supercharged 1935 MG PA/B, plus a Mercedes Vito van all have better paint work than the Boxter, that includes the MG!!. Yes I love the Boxter I do a lot of miles in her, (from what I understand from my local Porsche dealer about 5 or 6 times the average Boxter owners milage),however I don't carried away beliving that Porsche is the be all and end all of motor manufactures. Bear this in mind which is even more worrying if the carbon foot print brigade get their way we will all be saying goodby to our beloved steeds. Have a good weekend either driving or cleaning your chosen ride.
Regards Rodney Collins

I've now had by Boxster 2.7 Tiptronic ( 03 plate) for two months now and I daily commute 50 miles a day, and love it... especially with the roof off at night...

I'm a low mileage owner, mainly as with having 3 kids I don't get out in it as often as I'd like. Every so often (usually after I've paid for a service or extended warranty) I say to myself that I'm nuts and it's a ridiculous waste of money, and, yes, it does also cross my mind that when something goes wrong it will be costly. But then I get into it and take a blast out a country road with the top down and all those negative thoughts disappear and I marvel at just how fantastic a machine it is. It gives you a driving experience that is second to none, even at twice the price.
As for reliability - only the Japanese produce cars that are so reliable you know you'll never have any major issues - every other prestige manufacturer has in and around the same reliability, which is still way behind the Japanese but improving. In recent years I've seen stats that show that VW/Audi/BMW/Merc are no more reliable than Fiat and that's not a dig at Fiat (they are averagely reliable, along with the others), but it's not where you expect those marques to be, but I'm sure Porsche is probably in there along with them.

I love my Boxster - yes I enjoy driving it but I'm sorry to say the Boxster is a lemon if you took into account the number of major (recurring ) issues that have been handled within warranty as well (based on the anecdotal evidence - recurring issues flagged up on forums - outnumbers those on VW/BMW forums as a sample).

My only major issue on my 2.5 years young 987 "S" was a rattle from the dash cured recently after my OPC spent 10 patient days tracking the problem down and silencing it once and for all time hopefully. Otherwise it's been a pure pleasure in every other respect as expected [&o]

Think you need to post here:- http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=328555&mpage=1&key=&#328555

Ah - it must be true then!

How about, more Porsche owners are likely to cause a fuss and complain than owners of more "average" cars?
Let's face it, most Porsche owners think the world revolves around them, so are more likley to voice their displeasure.... Loudly.

That we should could consider the Boxster an average car when it comes to problems, yet above pay average costs to purchase and maintain it is an interesting concept.

The concept is explained by the fact that the Boxster is not an average car to drive - how many average cars (on price and reported faults) would you still get real pleasure from driving after 3 or more years of ownership? I personally have become bored with all my previous average cars after 2 or 3 months of ownership and have lost a lot of money trading in. You could say it's analogous to being married to a woman (or man) who still gives you real pleasure after 20 or 30 years. They may have caused you some problems over the years but they are worth it, especially if you count the cost of trading them in.

I purchased my Boxster new in May 02.This year I replaced both rear boot gas struts and the battery.Otherwise its been perfect. My wife bought a new 3 series 2years ago and again that has been perfect.

Been driving Boxsters since early 1997 and despite flirting with a few other cars in between (not owned just driven) the Boxster is still my preferred weapon of pure pleasure .... Roll on 987 Mk11 [8D]

Now off to enjoy 140 miles November sunshine and above average temps today [;)]

That's not what I said....

No.....it's not. Average cars don't cost you £50,000.
And when they do go wrong they don't cost you a fortune to put right.

Mark - Can you delete / lock this thread... as its no longer a record of Peoples enjoyable drives and experiances in their Boxsters []
