hello!

I need to top up coolant - it's sitting below Min-

tap water or anything special, like deionised, distilled or homeopathic water?

and any recommendations for coolant or am OK just to top up with a little water for now?

can I use just tap water for now? since I don't have anything 'special' about?

it's about 10mm below min. so it only really needs a splash

cheers

personally I would just top it with water there are enough inhibitors in coolant to eradicate any issues a bit of tap water would cause.

But I dare say someone will say "NO it must be Distilled water from the Stuttgart fairy"

If it is just a small amount required, the I would agree with Richard. If it was a litre or so, I would get a 2litre bottle of Comma G40 Xtream from somewhere like Halfords, and use that. Always useful to have some on the shelf for top-ups in the future, rather than slowly diluting over a long period of time.

I also used comma g40 when i drained the system and filled it fresh. Had to buy 2x 5 litre bottles so have plenty spare if required later. However, with the winter just around the corner it would be prudent to find out whether the small loss is not suspicious. Small pinholes can sometimes turn up in the expansion tank, as mine did. All the best and keep fingers crossed.

Its much less than twice the price for a 5 litre than a 1 litre MAKE SURE YOU GET CONCENTRATE About 22.50 fro Halfords. ) 1 litre 12.80)
