I am wanting to buy an i-pod so that i can use it in the car, i am aware that there are various ways of using one through a radio station, but would prefer to make up a lead from the radio, to connect into the i-pod. My brother in law is very handy with this sort of thing and asked me to find out what line in connections are or where can i get connectors for connetion c2 or c3 at the back of the radio.

Any ones help would be appreicated.

Phil

Yeah there is a connection for the Becker radion done by Dension (search on the web will find it). It works really well - I have it in my car.

If you have the autochanger either wired or fitted, there are left and right phono connectors (RCA) run into the boot. If you have the CDR 22 then you can tell the unit that this input is not an autochanger. It will then call it AUX and play the left and right audio. I have connected my MP3 player this way. You will lose the autochanger capability. You will have to control the Ipod entirely independently of the head unit i.e there will be no display on the CDR 22. The Dension connector does allow some control of the Ipod through the head unit e.g. forward and back track but costs about £99 I think.

I have heard that you can buy the connector to allow the auxilliary input into the CDR 22. However, I searched the web for a supplier for weeks and couldn't find one.

The Dension provides power as well as control in and sound out - worth the money in my opinion.

Looking into things i think you are right, I only have a MDR 32 no CD changer hence wanting to go for an IPOD just need to check what works with what.

Thanks for your help Guys.

I have a Dension system for sale, including the Brodit Proclip never been used, cost me £115, yours for £100 if you want it, didn't work with the CDR21, but works fine with a CDR22, you will need to check it's compitbility with them though. I bought a new iPod ready system from Alpine, so is surplas to requirement.

I am a bit of a techno junkie and i changed the head unit for an Alpine with hard wired i pod connections.
This allows all track listings as well as full controll. I have to say that this can be a rather expensive option.
My sister on the other hand who owns a car from the company that can not be mentioned (Fe****ri) had to only pay for the connector about £70

I only have the head unit which is a MDR 32. I have been told that Dension system will work with this no problem. The guy I am looking to buy it from will take it back if it does not work he has quoted £115 all in cable, cradle, fixings. I will be able to get the VAT back off this so thank you for the offer but this would be a better option for me.

In answer to N4das the Alpine option would be very nice but i think that the Dension would be the most econmical bet, as i still have to buy the i-pod. I think that the £70 for your sisters car would be just for the cable? I guess the cheapist thing your buy for the certain make mentioned.

Thanks

Phil
