I have not used the 944 for 2 weeks so it's sat out side and I noticed there was abit of damp on the rear seat it's clearly coming from the sunroof so I have put a heater in the car and it's dried out very nice but clearly I want to repair it..

So as I by the looks of things will be having a 996 I may have sell the 944 purely on the grounds of too many cars !!

I want to fix it.. so any ideas in truth I am not 100% sure the sunroof is sat in the right postion it sticks up a bit and I forgot how to open the roof EG so that I can totaly remove the roof to clean it up and reseat it..

I am sorry i mentioned 996 but I clearly missed the 911 movement and ended up looking at 996's [&:]

Swap the 996 for a new sunroof seal - problem solved on eth "too many cars" front, as well as the leak![:D]

To remove the sunroof, it should be possible to retract the arms with the ignition key in the accessory position - i.e., not with the engine running, undo the two latches at the front, and the sunroof should lift out.

One of the common problems with 944 sunroof leaks is not the seal so much as the drain tubes, either being blocked, or pushed off the tube stubs from over-zealous rodding... a pain to get back on. the one on the offside rear is also teed into the drain from the fuel filler. I have found strimmer line ideal for checking drains are clear.

Hope this helps,

Tref.

brilliant my sort of fix I will looking at this now at the weekend i hope it does not leak more :)

+++1 for Tref's solution - strimmer line is perfect for this but as he says be careful you don't push the pipes off the top drain tubes. As it was not leaking before, the pipes are probably still in place, but extreme care needed - twizzle the strimmer line and keep backing it out to remove the gunk as you go.

it's where the out let is I can't find it.. I have tried looking under the car and I am concerned it's blocked in some way. hence the water is just coming into the car.

Front two go through e a-pillars and out under the front bulkhead, rears down under the rear-pillar trim and out through the boot wells. I think! [8|]

Put one knot in the top off wire, but don't try 2. Pull it all the way out the other side this will work with 3 off the holes the one that joins petrol tank, you will need 2 part the Y connection. Don't get tempted to play with the filter cap drain hole, rubber bung is a pain to get back in.

Rear coms out under car near rear wheels

My mate did this useful diagram when my 944 was suffering with a wet rear carpet, his 968 was being rebuilt after an old lady reversed into it

brilliant thanks I am looking to get this sorted over the next few days and my heater in the car is working to dry it all out so I want to make sure it's going to stay dry

I am thinking I can pop the plastic grill thing off from inside the door shut to take a look where it exits !

Ok I have relooked at that photo.. ok I will take a look.. I can get about 1m of welding rod down and then it comes to a sudden stop and that's the same on both sides.. I have not pushed it just in case i damage some thing.
