I want to get my 997 detailed

Hi folks,

I bought a gen 1 997 about 2 months ago and I am loving it. Having washed it more than a few times I am now spotting the scratches and blemishes hidden by the dealer.

Does anyone know of a good detailer in the south London/ Surrey area who is capable of removing fine scratches etc?

There are a couple of detailers on the Mercedes forum that I am a member of that are very well regarded, but not sure if I am allowed to link to them directly, if not then I am happy to email you or message you?

I used Cliff Wilkins who is a member of PCGB, he did two cars for me with outstanding results and at a very fair price.

Also, go to ww.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=40246 for a list of detailers.

I used www.revolutiondetailing.co.uk who use the GTechnique products and have to say that is the best result I've had on a new car. If you're a member you get 15% off as well.

Good luck

I've had mine done by Mark from Attention to Detail (http://www.facebook.com/Atten2Detail - info.attentiontodetail@gmail.com - 07852996799) who's done a great job both inside and out on a number of occasions. He's very knowledgeable about the whole detailing thing, and is more than happy to discuss your requirements so he can do the right job. I told him I don't want to have to rely on him coming every month or so for a sparkly car, and that I want a low maintenance way of cleaning it myself - he's put this Nanolex (sp?) sealant on which is meant to last 3 years and means that after a quick shampoo and rinse with a sponge myself, I'm back to a shiny finish. It's only been 6 months since it was done, but it's proving true so far!
There are some pictures of the results of my black gen 1 CS on the facebook page.

John, you'll be lucky to get more than a year with a sealant before a top up is needed. By the way, you won't find a detailer using a sponge as it traps dirt particles and then scratches them round the car again. Try a wash mitt and the two bucket method as it'll keep your shiny finish longer. There's a selection at www.polishedbliss.co.uk

Just don't go near Drive 'N Shine in Godstone - if you want my reasons for saying that, PM me your email address.

Also be aware that detailing world allows posts praising detailers, but does not allow you to post reports of less than satisfactory service, even when the report is completely factual and not aggresive. Rather like this forum, name and shame is not allowed over there.

I know they are nowhere near you but may be worth giving Andrew or Jonathan a call in Stirling, Central Scotland. They are at TLC Detailing tel 07854 894859, They did my 997 GT3 RS and results were stunning, can be seen on their web site www.tlcdetailing.co.uk
They know many detailers in UK and may be able to point you in the right direction down there.

Yes I put something a bit sarcastic, but true, on DW and within an hour it had been spotted and removed. Seems like it is a site sponsored and policed by the trade!

+1 for Adam @ Revolution Detailing,
I have just used him to detail my 997 turbo for the last three days and the results are amazing.
It looks like a brand new car and all the swirl marks and paint defects have been completely removed after many hours of paint correction
before applying Gtechniq C1 protection to the whole car.
He is a lovely chap and very professional and takes great pride in his work as well as sharing his knowledge on how to maintain your cars paint work yourself.
All in all very pleased with the car and Adams great service.

Glad you're pleased with the results, any chance of some pics? And are you still going for the Bentley or has the 911 met your expectations this time around?

Thanks Peter, yes will get a few photos uploaded over the weekend.
Still buying the Bentley and have asked Adam to detail it when we take delivery (1st of March all going well).
Love the turbo just got to fix the private plate on it this evening and start enjoying.
It looks so amazing after Adams hard work I don't want to take it out and get it dirty lol.
Just wanted to say thanks Peter because I would not have known about Adam without reading your post so much appreciated m8 and I will certainly be using Adams services
from now on.
all the best

Depending on what you are looking to have done, KDS Keltec are one of the very best around and based in Kent. May be overkill if you just want a very good wash / wax service but their results are exceptional.
