Remember the "cills or sills" thread? I'm sure you do.....

Well, following Tref's bad news his post reminded me of another question I'd been meaning to ask. And, John etc, "I don't care" is not a valid opinion....[:D]

So. Is it "concours" or "concour"? I appreciate the plural nature of the first option, but it's the way I've always read it.

Thanks,

Paul the Pedant [8|]

I've just looked it up in my French Dictionary and it should finish with an 's'.
Incidentally, a rough translation of the meaning is 'someone who prefers housework to driving'.[:D]

You could always hold the concours in or on the concourse.

"Drive it like you polished it" doesn't have the same je ne sais quoi.

Cheers,

Well the difference between Concord and Concorde nearly sparked off an international incident back in the '60's so it is important we get these details right.
