Ideas on Insurance please?

Hello Chaps

Long time no post!

I'm looking for ideas on insurance for my 944 Turbo.

I am currently with Classicline, fully comp, full no claim, garaged, 3000 miles PA, old bloke. There quote is £237.

Am I likely to do better by looking around and if so where.

Thanks for all your help.

Best wishes

Robbie

Insurance has shot up over the past 2 years, I started off paying £201, then £280 and now £360 a year, and my last points went past 5 years last year!

Still better than the £480 I was paying on my modded SAAB 9 3 prior to the Porker!

I'm with Footman James, £230 a year fully comp + UK and Europe brakedown cover, legal cover, travel insurance, 4500miles per year. But mine is a 2.7, I think it will be the same for a turbo.

I can get insured for 110 to 130 on a 2.7 or an S2 believe it or not but having had many quotes and 2 policies on turbo's I think you will find that the car is set as a ' much ' higher risk.

I'm a fellow old person with full N.C etc and my turbo policy taken out last year was about 230 so I would say your quote is quite competitive.

R.H are most certainly the bucket cheap one for most folk but 230 is very fair and I suspect that even they would struggle to be noticably cheaper but you could try , I would [:D]

Regards Mas

Interesting to note regards R.H and most other companies, they wouldn't allow me a classic policy as my only car and amazingly, the best price they came up with was £499..... ROFL

Which is why I'm now with ClassicLine who charged me £285 ungaraged, 5,000 miles inc HomeStart, Breakdown, Legal

Im using Perfomance Direct on a limited miles fully comp policy on my 944 LUX and I just renewed at £135 pa.

Thought that was pretty competitive!

I just renewed the 2.5 at about £110 (3000 miles kept on the drive, alarmed , 50+, no points, other cars etc) but the same co would not touch the 2.7!
got that at £200, (3000 miles, on the drive, but no alarm), but sometimes the is no apparent rhyme or reason with insurance cos and I spent 7 years broking!

Thats not a bad price for a Turbo, at 39 with no points Cat1 alarm, garaged, but no limitation and 1 years NCB I'm now paying £60 more than I was last year!! (now paying £422, but as I mentioned that as a daily drive SDP unlimited milage 90 euro cover etc)

If you have more than one car the NCD only applies to one vehicle not all so make sure you are not using the NCD for one policy on another. If a new owner as extra car push for intro NCD as high as possible - negogiate !

Hello again chaps,

Thanks for all the advice and feedback.

Just thought I would let you know the outcome.

I tried RH as they seemed to be mentioned by a lot of people. They came back with a quote of £294. This was well above the £237 wanted by Classicline so I went with them.

Thanks again

Robbie
