Identifying Porsche 993 M030 and M033 springs

Hi

Does anyone know how to identify which springs are M030 and which are M033 - I believe that they have coloured identification markings to signify which type they are?

If anyone could help with the correct identification colours for these 2 different types of springs and the positioning allocation (front/rear - assuming of course that they are also marked differently for their positioning).

Many thanks in advance

Maurice put a post in the technical articles section a while back - should tell you all you need to know

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply - I must be missing the article due to tiredness zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Had a look in 993 FAQ - all I could see suspension related was the bit about creaking roll bar bushes - another about what M030 and M033 option codes signify - lots of other useful info but not the colour coding unfortunately.

Also checked the main 'home' menu technical articles forums and didn't come up trumps there either.

However, I did find the info elsewhere on the internet whilst searching - so I thought I'd add it below in case anyone else needs to know in future. [:)]

Front Springs:
M033: 993.343.531.04 - Blue
M030 & Turbo: 965.343.531.01 - Orange/Green

Rear Springs:
M033: 993.333.531.21* - White or 993.333.531.22* - Lilac
M033 Carrera S/4S: 993.333.531.23 - Pink
M030: 993.333.531.11 - Brown
Turbo: 993.333.531.16 - Red

You must still have been tired when you looked for it a second time Austin [:D] - here's the post http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=112427

Much the same as you found elsewhere, doesn't have colour codes for S or turbo springs though but does have colour codes for dampers and anti roll bars

Ahh it all makes sense now - I couldn't access the link due to not being a PCGB member - hence why I couldn't find the info. Thanks for putting the link on though.

Perhaps someone can answer this question - the M033 is the lowered option according to the spec coding and the M030 is the sport option - which must mean a stiffer spring rate than the M033.

However, if the M033 is a lowered option then what springs are normally fitted for it to 'lower' the vehicle? I thought M033 and M030 were the only options available for ROW (ignoring the USA versions which are like SUV ride height [;)])

I was led to believe that the M033 and M030 were identical in terms of ride height but it was just the spring rate/stiffness that differed between the two sets of springs (that and the dampers being different).

So what is the third standard option of spring if M033 is lowered?

Thanks very much - just looked through the PET catalogue and can see that there is a 3rd option there as you said - no option code next to the front and rear springs that your part numbers match up with. So the 'standard' fit on 993's.

Cheers
