What's the race history with this one Tim? Who has driven it for example?
I'm not sure on that particular chassis, Matt; there were several different cars that ran in that livery; but I can find out.
It's a Kremer 962CK6, technically not a genuine Porsche. The 962 was a development of the 956; the factory built cars had problems with lack of stiffness in their aluminium chassis; several teams built their own chassis then acquired the rest of the parts from Porsche; the Kremer 962's had a carbon-fibre chassis; they built 11 in total. Other teams built their own versions too, including Richard Lloyd Racing/GTi Engineering who built 4 here in the UK. Sadly Richard Lloyd was one of the people killed in the executive jet crash at Biggin Hill in March this year.

Tim, a mine of information.
Yes, unfortunately most if it being useless, Chris! []

Can you imagine driving that to the track and back ???
Sadly, not !
But can you imagine parking that on the the drive and waiting for the missus to arrive home ? WTF !!
Well.... if you have about half a million quid burning a hole in your pocket you could do just that! Ex racer Jochen Dauer's company produce road versions (mostly from original race cars but I think they've built one or two bespoke ones) and there are two for sale on their web site (which seems to be mid-rebuild) for 980 USD!
Here's their Dauer Showroom and here's the original brochure.
How about these for figures? 730 bhp; 0 - 60 mph: 2.6s; 0 -125 mph: 7.2s; top speed (independently tested): 251.4 mph!!

My 'Main' Man!!
Personally the nine-one-seven is the one that does it for me. From first seeing them in pics in Autosport and Autocourse and then seeing and hearing them at 14 in the film 'Le Mans' and then in real life later that year; there was just something special about them! Probably one of the prettiest racing cars ever, not to mention, one of the fastest.
Pure unadulterated sex! LOL This is the Martini 'psychedelic' livery - well it was the 70's! []
My favourite one (colour scheme wise) was the '71 Le Mans winner, the white Martini car of Dr Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep:
For the road I'd love one in black, complete with the vertical (batmobile) stabiliser fins! []

Yes there were at least two, one belonged to Count Rossi of Martini & Rossi. There are even some high-end replicas available one from a US company Race Car Replicas. and one from an Australian company called Kraftwerkz. These use the flat six from the 911 whereas the genuine 917 had a flat 12.

Awesome finds Tim. You are the Paul Raymond of the Porsche porn world! Saw a similar looking car at the Coy's auction at Silverstone Classic in July that some of the teams were bidding for.
[] I shudder to think what a real original would go for! Probably a couple of £million?

Have you ever had the pleasure of driving one of these things Tim?...I know you've driven pretty much everything else (Porsche) haven't you.
No, sadly! [] I would to have a drive in a 917 more than any other car I can think of.
Probably haven't driven everything Porsche... the list I have driven includes 944's, 968's, various 911's: 964, 993, 996; RS's, Turbo's, GT3's; including some racing versions.

Read about Count Rossi´s 917 in German magazine "auto motor sport" no. 10 / 1975 page 14 and 15.
The other one was registered in Germany, in a city named Calw. "auto motor sport" also wrote about it, but I don´t remember when.
