Idle Stabliser Valve

Took my idle stabiliser valve off to give it a clean today (I can now confirm that this definitely can be done without taking off the manifold - looking through old posts this was a matter of some debate!). Have given it a good clean but just wanted to check something before putting it back. The valve only opens maybe 2 or 3 mm. It smoothly slides to close off this remaining 2 or 3mm but doesn't open any more than this (i.e. the tube is about 1.5cm in diameter, but even when the valve is open, only a small slit is actually open).

Is this how it should be, or has it jammed 3/4 closed?

Cheers
Greg

There was only debate about being able to remove it if people didn't believe me as I did the one on my S2 cab.

Anyway as I recall it should open all the way (1/4 turn) so it's full-bore, so yours sounds like it's stuck for some reason.

Cheers Fen. Suspected that may have been the case. Its quite strange as its smooth as could be for the bit that it does slide for but jams rock solid if you try to open it any more than the small bit that it does open. May be up for a new one unfortunately I suspect. Not cheap from what I read too!

Had seen your old post saying you had managed to get yours off without taking the manifold off (in fact thats what gave me the motivation to give it a try!). Debate was probably the wrong word - was meaning more that everyone had seemed amazed that you had managed it more than anything else, so was confirming you were right that its possible!

By the way, here's a picture of it. Not the clearest of pics (in fact its clearer of my kitchen sink than anything else!). Anyway, this is with it at its most open. You can see (hopefully) the small portion at the top that is open. Doesn't get any wider than this!
