Nick, Intermeccanica produced some of (if not the) best quality 356 Speedster fibreglass bodies back in the ' 70' s & ' 80' s - in fact virtually every Speedster replica manufactured since then has been produced from moulds taken from one of Intermeccanica' s bodies.

Is this a private seller ? The reason I ask is that if it' s in Andover, there' s a fair chance it could be for sale by Barry Martin of Martin & Walker who produce some superb Porsche replicas including a lovely 904 GTS, a 550 Spyder & various 356 models.

If it is him, Barry has a long association with Porsches & 356' s in particular.

It' s not Barry Martin, but the owner knows him well. He is Ian Macmath, and a fascinating fellow to talk to. He has a RHD ' 67 912 and a RHD ' 69S in restoration, races a 914/6.

I will drop in to see him next week and see what else he has

Having been a VW builder and enthusiast for a good while I can vouch that Autocavan built engines are some of the best around although you' d need some more detail - if its a single Weber on that engine it needs changing! - I' ve always thought about getting a speedster replica and with my licence going on holiday for a while I think one would make more sense for my wife to use as she prefers them over 912s and 911. Maybe he' d like to swap it for mine?
