just wondering if there is a time scale for changing them out as have a chance to buy all 6 for £150 but had them all replaced in october last year by prevoius owner, can any one please help me here??

The outer case of the coil packs soon deteriotes and cracks, OPC's and even independant specialist like to point these out at every service, but they do last for years.

so what you are saying is its ok if the outer case is cracked its just that opc's would try to rip you off..

Last year I had a particularly annoying intermittent misfire at around 4000rpm. It wasn't particularly noticeable but took the edge off an otherwise brilliantly smooth drive down to Le Mans. It also misfired a few times when it was driven in heavy rain.

When the car had the 111 point check as a part of the extended warranty inspection a while later, Swindon PC reported that three of the coil packs showed signs of slight cracking. All three were replaced (under the extended warranty). After that the car ran noticeably smoother and the misfires went away. In my view, they are definitely worth replacing if there is the slightest sign of cracking.
