Ignition key stuck

Hi, after 18 months had my first issue with my 997 C2S tip 06 today. Got to service station and couldn't get key out of ignition. Dash was giving me a message saying 'put into park' it was in park. Moving the gearlever back and forward, the LED,s on the dash were correct and reporting it was in park. Stripped the interior cowling around the gearlever (sorry didn't take any photos, was to stressed) took the gear knob off, then I could see a control rod that went from the right hand side of gearlever and disappeared towards the rear of the car, i gave it a shove backwards and felt it move a bit. All normal now, have tried it out now about 10 times and all is ok, must have been jammed, but will probably happen again!!!! Have worked out a way I can push it back without removing any panels etc. So I'll see how it goes. Cheers Tony

FYI - This can also happen if you have a flat battery. I was rather worried when i collected my 997 from a family members property, they had tried to start the car to run it up before a called to collect it.....flat battery and then the key was stuck in the ignition!!
