Ignition lock

I believe that you have to remove the steering lock in order to remove the ignition barrel. In order to do that you must have the key. If you remove the steering wheel (not necessary on a series one car) and work a self tapping screw into the key hole, you can withdraw the whole barrel without damaging the steering lock casting, using a dent puller/slide hammer. One smooth action and follow through..... I used to deal in the cars, rather than steal them, btw. [:D]

I managed to replace the ignition switch without dismantling anything. A bit fiddly and requires you to lie upside down with your head in the foot well with the pedals digging into your skull and your feet up in the air.

Im presuming that the OP is asking about the ignition barrel. The bottom of the barrel locates in and turns the ignition switch. For obvious reasons the ignition barrel lock cant be removed from within the steering lock housing, or it would be insecure. Hence the self tapping screw and the dent puller.

Ive found the keys so panic over,i was going to drill the shear bolts out untill i found out they are about £15 each from an opc.I think a spare key will be next on my shopping list !!
