Morning

Hope someone can help me, was off last night to France on a car trip with friends and turned off the car key felt odd then it would not lock I then realised that the lights on the dash as in millage part etc would not go off and in the ignition barrel the bit that covers it when you take the key out does not go over the key feels really odd, has any one had this problem before? Trying to get it fixed so I can go on with my trip so any help would be well received.

Regards Philippe

To me it sounds as though you need a new ignition key barrel unit. I had to have one of these a few years ago because things had gone haywire . Good luck and have a great trip !

It is usually the contacts in the ignition switch start to break up, and stop the lock barrel from turning properly. There is an article in the Technical Articles section, showing how to change the switch.

Turns out it was the ignition switch JZ changed it early on Wedenesday so I could carry on with my trip and only a few hours delay which was great, car ran like a treat.

Thanks for your responses.

regards Phil
