Hi
Can anyone help with the method of getting to the ignitionb switch and steering lock, My 996 199 C2 cab has develpoed an iginition switch fault!, normally when you switch off and pull out the key, you hear a clunk everything switchs off and all the lights go out!, now when I switch off- no clunk steering lock does not engage and the speedo amber nymbers stay lit- and I cant remotly lock the car with this happening, I can lock with the key but not with the fod- I think the fob thinks the key is still in the ignition??, I think I need a new switch.
I am fairly mechanically minded but it seems a real job to get to it, does anyone know how they come apart or point me to anyone in Gloucestershire who may be able to help????.
I am also looking for someone to service and look after the car, again any reccomendations without going to a Porsche garage and getting all my arms and legs ripped Off?????
thanks
Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Not sure quite where your based, I'm in Cheltenham so not so far away. If your looking for someone to look after your car then try Neil Garner. www.neilgarner.co.uk

He has always been great to me, always has a nice selection of cars in for service...

Richard thanks for your quick reply but when I clicked on the link i was unable to get into the artcila as it sadi access denied!!! what was it any way??

It's an excellent link Richard has put up, showing how to replace the switch and how to get the part at a big discount.
But I think you need to be a member to get access to that part of the forum [:-]

Like Rodney says, you need to be a PCGB member to access this section, which has lots of useful technical info and DIYs provided by members. Just another perk of membership.

If you send me an email, I'll attach the DIY to a reply.

A big thank you to Richard and the others on this thread, just finished fitting the new switch, and although a bit tricky getting the tiny grub screws out, all went well and now my pride and joy will switch off, yes the ignition problem solved.
Thanks again to all who took the time and trouble to help
Adrian
