Ignition switch/non starter

If the other things like poor connections already mentioned don't show up anything then I would consider the starter solenoid especially if you get a click but nothing else when you try to crank it. Moisture can get into the solenoids on SCs resulting in corrosion to the internal contacts - a problem I have had on two occasions with my own SC.
If battery and connections look OK and you can put the car on stands you can test that the solenoid is getting 12v via the starter/ignition switch with a volt meter (at the spade connector not the large battery connections). I would do this before tackling the switch. If there's 12v when you try to crank it you will have eliminated problems with the switch and all between. If you can hear/feel the solenoid actuating without the engine cranking I think it's likely to be the solenoid - it's the weak point of the starter.
Another place that can cause increased resistance which is often overlooked is at the earth braid which runs from gearbox to chassis - it's easy to spot but again you will need to put the vehicle on stands to check that.
Best of luck
Check underside of dash , drivers side. You should see 3 ( if i remember correct) round black connectors that link through the bulkhead. These sometimes work loose push all to ensure they are connected.Had this happen on mine a couple of times.Same symptom all ok but no crank
Note you can knock these with your foot!
Good luck

Can agree with that - I lost wipers when one of these came loose some years ago. Very puzzling for a while.
