A solicitor friend of mine has just sent me this notice about a speed camera on the A65 between Leeds and Skipton:

"
As you may have read, a speed camera on the A65 Leeds to Skipton Road has been shown to be illegal due to the authorities failing to obtain the proper order before setting it up. Anybody who was convicted of speeding from this camera, even if they pleaded guilty, may be able to have their conviction quashed and the points removed from their licence. If you or anybody you know, whether they are friends, family, clients or professional contacts, were caught by this illegal camera then please refer them to me.

This case shows the importance of drivers questioning and challenging motoring offences. Mistakes such as the one above are more common than you would think.
For further details of the above case, please see the link below:

"

It could well be worth passing on to anyone who has been caught out, they can contact either Robert Ward or Jeremy Scott at Langleys york. they both have a bit of a track record in dealing with motoring offences.

The link above is to one of my cases. I was on TV speaking about this (see recent post by Mr & Mrs Holmes - was A65 not A59 btw). I'm quoted today in the Yorkshire Evening Post and I've spoken to the Wharfedale Observer about the case.

I would be happy to advise anyone about this. n.b. I specialise in defending road traffic offences.

I knew I had heard this story somewhere before, but couldn't quite remember where I had got it, appologies for posting twice, and well done to you.

Out of interest where is this camera located, is it one of the cameras on the Manor Bends just SE of ilkley? I can't think of any other cameras.

Thanks

Steve

Since our trip to OZ in December I have been very careful and watching my speed closely.

$1000Au fine !!!

Even more so after getting stoped on the A61 heading out of Harrogate by a PC on foot, who noticed my speed and told me to be careful as it was slippy, Nice PC

can't think of any other cameras? odd as the A65 Leeds is reportedly the most densely populated camera site in britain.

Times article

the case involves a small part of the A65 in Yeadon. No Traffic Regulation Order means that there was no speed limit. Signs erected are irrelevant as they do not create a speed limit.

It could be as they have to inform people where mobile cameras are going to be and that they are on the data base for sat navs, the cameras that have been used in the past are counted.

Mt TomTom keeps warning me of 2 camera's on the A59 by the Kestral
