I'm Back!!

Well having moved to the dark side with an old 328i I have just bought a 88' Lux in guards red and can't believe I ever looked else where.
Car only done 84k with 1/2 black leather and generally in pretty good condition.
Got my first of many questions: the car has an induction cone/kit on and wanted to know if from the cone any pipes should go into the whole where the normal air box pipe would go or is the cone sufficient on its own, also the bit where the cone is connected you can lift the whole section ie it seems to resting on one of the big pipes ( not sure which one ). So i would imagine if going over a large bump the whole unit would move, should it be secured with some sort of bracket.
regards all

Welcome back Simon.
I had a small filter on the breather of my Lux (bought from Halfords) which sounds like what you're missing, it could be argued that it's not critical, but I like the idea as much for keeping out debris.
I'd definately get some kind of bracket in place to support it all, I bodged it with a thin piece of aluminium which worked ok, later on JZ replaced it with a much neater bracket but they both did the same job (I was never sure if they made it or bought it in).
The pic below shows the early solution.
