immobiliser woe

I have been attempting to replace the immobiliser receptacle in my 968. the receptacle slot is loose so the key pins dont engage well. Its not been a problem (yet) but sometimes takes a minute or so to get the bloody thing to beep, which is a bore. So I have a replacement receptacle from Hamilton-palmer, Ive isolated the appropriate cabling behind the footwell/dash (thats fun, lying on my back half-in/half-out of the car with my head in the footwell for half an hour), just before I cut the wires I thought I'd better check on the receptacle itself. Can i get it out? can I hell. The body is a sealed plastic unit and what I thought was a screw thread is in fact small serrated rings angled to allow you to plug into the fascia undeer the steering wheel but not get it out again. Just like a moray eels teeth and just as stubborn - acunning security measure to be sure, but how the hell do I get the damned thing out?
