Immobliser and Tracker non recovery

Does anybody know whether the RS came with any kind of factory immobliser fitted as standard equipement.

I was interested but somewhat amazed to read in PP that an owner of a 993 RS had his car stolen and not recovered even though the car was fitted with Tracker. Anyone got an idea or any experience how this happens?

First off RS never came with alarm or immobiliser. Standard 964's it was an option and dependant on country, I understand uk rhd cars possibly had alarm systems fitted pre delivery, i.e.not the Porsche item but approved I assume. The person most likely to know about that is Steve Kevlin. I think the european market got the standard Porsche Item but this is guesswork on my part, would be nice for someone to confirm it and I know a man who can! The theiving scum nowadays know where the box is hiden and simply remove it as I understand it. Have heard about at least one car taken that way, owner left with just traker unit on garage floor. Have heard that some installers are more ingenius than others as to where the system is placed. There are system restraints as to placement, regardless of the sales blurb. In years to come I guess these systems will be an integral part of the engine managment and in fact I suppose they already are on 996's etc as immobiliser is coded to ecu etc.

I heard that one gang had a special transporter that once loaded could not omit any signals through it's lead lined walls with special high tec radar jamming equipment in a following stealth vehicle..........YES THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CARS TAKEN RECENTLY PARTICULARLY GT3'S.......no taste!

Having had a car stolen last May and never recovered I got the
impression from a serious crime CID guy at my gym that if they want your car, even with a tracker fitted, they will still nick it by hook or by CROOK!
