Imperial War Museum Visit Duxford Cambs, 7 Sept.

I am currently organising a visit to the Imperial War Museum Duxford. This huge Airfield site has an enormous variety of Aircraft, certainly the largest in Europe. Some of the noteworthy include Concorde, TSR2, Lancaster, Vulcan, Shackleton, B52, SR71 Blackbird, Sunderland and 100s more. As well as the Aircraft, the museum houses over 100 Military vehicles, Tanks, truck and Guns and also includes some boats too.

I have negotiated a group entry discount price of £11.55 for those of a certain age and £13.20 for all remainder, Children under 16 are free. We do not have to book numbers in advance but I need an idea of interested parties so I can plan a route and pick-up points, we must arrive in convoy to get discount. Should we have over 50 cars, we can have our own display on the display side of the site.

As we have a large number of RAF and Ex-RAF in the region, I'm sure these will prove to be very informative during the tour.

For further details, contact me, other regions would be most welcome to come along.

Is this the Spitfires, Merlins and Motors day? Duxford do 2 car oriented days each year, the May one and the one I mentioned. We've been to both, the May one can be good but the chance of crap weather is higher than the later one.

Hi Richard, Please reserve a place for my grandson and I for this visit.....he's excited about it already!!! Regards KevR

Shame its the same day as Classics at the Castle otherwise we would have joined you. Despite both events not being very far apart its not really possible to do both in one day. You really struggle to do Duxford in one day.

Hi Gavin, I like to plan an annual trip to Duxford and, if you don't mind me joining you, this would be an ideal opportunity. Jeff

Hi Jeff, was pencilling that in myself then realised that it's the same day as Supercar Sunday at Sharnbrook!! But there are a couple of alternative dates in May..... Paul

Thanks for pointing that out Paul. Typical of the way things are panning out for me at the moment...and it's only January too..! Decisions, decisions..! Jeff

I have tried to book a day that does not clash with a flying event at Duxford. The museum is vast and with so much to see, as Mark said, it's difficult to see it all in a day; so having the distraction of a flying or car display makes it even worse. Sorry it clashes with some other events but as was said, it's only January and the diary is full already. Everyone is most welcome, more the merrier.
