Import vs UK car

I have just found out that the car I am bout to take delivery of is an import from either Turkey or Malta! Does this make a difference? I have a few days to reconsider, the service book shows 1 service Oct last year at 14500 mls and V5 shows 1 owner from new to Nov 2005, the mileage now is 16700.....MMMM. Is this significant? I appreciate your advice. Thanks, Ross.

It makes a massive difference when it comes to re-sale or trade in.

If the car is a lot cheaper than market rate, you have to balance it up.

Thanks for the feedback, I have found out that it is a C98 which is the code for a rhd european model for Cyprus or Malta, also I have just recieved a fax of the v5 and original service book from one of the office girls. The last owner sold it in 11/05! I wonder where it has been since then? The suppliers stamp is ITC Barbados. All a bit strange?? The biggest worry now is what has happened to it since 02/11/05? its showing 2000mls more than its service on 28/10/05.

Imho..... walk away!
If you are not 100% happy it will nag the hell out of you for ever & when you go you change it the very same salesman who sold it you wil suck his cheeks in and say "of course as it's in import we can only offer you £10.99 against a new £60K car" Ok it's a bit of an exageration but you know what I mean. I brought some years ago a class D write off BMW which was mint.... & I couldn't give the bloody thing away.
The Sunday Times motoring has loads of S & Turbo models on the back page, wait your time & get one that feels right.
Here endeth the lesson.

Thanks Mal, I agree, its pretty much the conclusion I am arriving at. The search continues!

There are loads of caymans out there at really decent prices from what I can see. I would avoid the import at all costs TBH. It makes no sense and you will find not only will you lose out financially when you come to sell but you will find it very very hard to sell.

Common sense has prevailed and their hook is being slung as I type. The search goes on as mentioned there are plenty around so I should be in one soon. Cheers all.
