importing a 996 from europe ? the VAT ?

Hi there,

Is it possible to buy a 911 from Europe ( lets say Germany or Belgium ) from a dealer, get the VAT off there and then upon import pay the UK VAT ? is that how it works ?

Or theres no fooling around with the VAT ? what type of costs are involved with importing a 911 from Europe ? Rule of thumb ? I want a LHD 911 and the market is scarce in UK ( no brainer.. ) but I'm considering importing one from Europe and register it in the UK. What is needed ? How much is involved ?

Hi,

As a private import, I don't think you can use any VAT registeration you might have. You need to pay the VAT locally. You would then not pay VAT when you import it to the UK - thats my understanding at least
