Impression of this car????

It looks a bit of a mish-mash to me, but nothing that can't be fixed: wrong mirror, fog lamps, coil and air cleaner housing spout. Engine lid letters should be black, but may be silver. The engine bay should be body colour. It's a USA car (rubber over riders), so I would be VERY wary of rust and the body condition under shiny paint..

Accepting what Nick says, the incorrect details would not be too difficult to fix, so in my opinion if it is rust free it should be worth a look.
 
I get the impression that the safer option is buying a car from Someone on here maybe that has cared for it and will be honest about the car and price

If all of us who bought them 15 years (and more!) ago did the same then we'd still be waiting now! Yes, these days the majority of the really good cars to pass from owner to owner directly, but still good cars get dealt in the trade.

Looking at the full advert here: http://www.MecanicImport.com/home.php?page=22&lg=en&id=493 it's quite a pretty little thing. If you're seriously in the market for a LWB, LHD and Targa then get it inspected by someone who really knows these cars.

They are the purist form of Porsche motoring for the money [:)]

But this car is based in Belgium so an inspection wud be tricky. Are Targas the least popular series of the early cars as they are with more modern vehicles??? I wish I knew a local owner who would let me test drive an early car, obviously I'd return the favour with a go in my 993 thats well sorted

I personally don't know anyone but there are Belgium Early 911 owners on here and other classic Porsche forums in the UK (where are you Bert?!? [:D]) Try finding a Belgium based early 911 expert? Where there's a will there's a way.

It depends on your point of view. Personally? I've always wanted a 2.4 Targa - in RHD they are very rare, only being introduced for the very last of the 2.4 from 1972 onwards. I wouldn't be put off but I would bear in mind that a 40 year old semi-convertible isn't going to offer levels of water proof'ness that a modern will do [:D]

I'd post up that offer! I'm in Hampshire but there are lots of us early 911 owners all over the country and we're generally a friendly bunch!

You could try emailing the Classic Club Belgium on porsche.club.356@hofvanreyen.be and ask if they know the car or could view it for you. President Walter Pauwels or his son both speak English and may be able to help. They may be at Techno Classica Essen.

HA!

As luck would have it, I will be in that region again after easter. Dates to be finalised. I know of the dealers: they used to import a lot of rusty spitfires/TR5 and 6's and MGB by the lorryload for the DIY market. They went upmarket with "finished cars" in so called "concours condition" which means in Belgium shiny paint and a new set of carpets/recovered seats. Happy to report back about the car! Shall I get in contact nearer the time?
