I am arranging another impromptu pub meet (if that's not actually a contradiction) of Porsche owners (not just PCGB members) at The Five Bells in Standbridge for one evening during the week beginning 12th October. If anyone wants to come along and has particular preferences for days that week, please let me know.

Sounds a great idea. I'm a 997 newbie ('05 C2S) so would be great to meet some fellow local owners.

I can do most evenings but would prefer to avoid Thursdays (family duties) if possible.

The general consensus seems to be for Tuesday 13th October from 19:00 - links: venue and map. Those of us who will have only just been on the first "drive your own Porsche" training day at the Silverstone Driving Experience will no doubt have some tales to tell!

Open to all Porsche owners, preferably Porsche-equipped. We'll either all be gathered in the car park, kicking each others' tyres, or in the bar. Either way, I'll have my PCGB shirt and spyderman badge on!

I might be able to make it, just need to check on work commitments first, oh and family commitments too!

Yep - although I don't think there's been a station in Stanbridge for a good many decades. They do great nosh if you fancy having dinner there.

Yes, its going to be on Tuesday 13th October from 19:00 (7pm). I reckon we might more than double my attendee record!

Just a bump to remind anyone interested that this is a go for tonight. I'm hoping for at least 10 Porsches from across the forums. The weather looks to be OK, although by 19:00 we'll be kicking tyres in the dark!

I don't have much to show folk, but I do have a Dension 500, shortly to be installed in my Boxster, plus a brochure from the Porsche Driving Experience.

Annoyingly, I have a 5pm client meeting in London, so getting home and then to the pub in reasonable time will be a challenge but still hope to pop in before you all decide to go home [8|].

Sorry guys look's like I'm not gonna make it as
working late.

Was really looking forward to meeting a few of the locals, may be next time.

Have fun [:)]

Thanks Spyderman and other fellow attendees. Good to meet you all. I took away three thoughts - which may help others:

Servicing: RPM in Cheddington;

Speed cameras: Info Rad (?) from Halfords for £40 is a great bit of kit; far more discreet and totally portable than Road Angel type devices; and

Drive-your-own-porsche day: enjoyable but I didn't hear you or Mike really recommend it. Mainly, I think because the low friction circuit wasn't used and this is probably the key driving skill applicable day-to-day.

Cheers again!

Glad to meet you Paul - sorry we didn't have a proper chance to kick your tyres!

More information on the Inforad range - they do several models but its the K1, the little USB stick-type, that's the cheapest.

YouDrive@Porsche was great fun, and very cheap compared to the other courses. Of course the presence of the delectable Vikki made the course that much more attractive. I don't get as much 1-to-1 tuition as I expected, but on the ice hill and kick plate I don't think that makes too much difference; I think the low friction circuit would require having an instructor in the car but I'm not sure they have enough to cater for the size of group we had.

I'm very glad I signed up, but at the end of the day, I'm not sure it improves your driving as much as proper 1-to-1 tuition.
