IMS Guardian for turbo?

Whilst I realise the Turbo is a completely different engine and does not have IMS issues, is there any merit to fitting IMS guardian to one? Any significant lumps of swarf in the engine are a serious concern regardless of source but is this likely in a 996T? Will the IMS guard fit anyway?

Thanks. The reason I ask is that Phil Raby's article on the IMS in total 911 suggested it might be worth considering for other engines and I know he knows his stuff (I used to date his sister!)

I assumed by "other engines" he was meaning the ones in the Boxster, Cayman & the 997 pre the switch to DFI. That system really only makes sense in a wet sump engine where the bits are likely to float around and settle at the bottom enough to be attracted to a magnet. That doesn't happen with a dry sump design & so if you were going to fit it anywhere, it would need to go in the oil tank. Thing is that there isn't really a point at which you could fit a magnetic bung where it would work without redesigning the tank &/or the pickup pipe.

Agh. Understood, thanks Nick. One of my cars has a dry sump kit but there is still a plug to drain the oil. I thought the Turbo might be the same.

Cheers,
B
