IMS

I am after a bit of advice please. I had my RMS changed at an OPC five months ago and it came with a 12 month guarantee. My 996 has just been into a local indie and they have informed me that my IMS is leaking slightly. Do you think I have any comeback at all with the OPC or are the 2 issues totally unrelated. My indie has told me to go back and stamp my feet. Any thoughts? Many thanks.

You should be covered on the 2-year parts warranty. Go back and stanp your feet. I'm not sure how they could tell if it was IMS or RMS though. You can't see either with the gearbox in place, and both drip from the same place.

When I had my RMS done at the OPC in December '09 I purposely asked that they replace the IMS housing and seal at the same time.

If you did not ask them to repalce the IMS then I cannot see how they should do it do under warranty.

Check your bill and see if they did the seal at the same time.
