I have purchased a Carcam for my 991S Cab and up to know I am pleased with it. It is a Nextbase 402G from Halfords, although you can get them cheaper on the web.

My main concern was the size, a bit bigger than some, but it has fitted nicely behind the rear view mirror. I have hidden the cable between the windscreen and the facia and down the left hand side A frame. Using a small non sharp tool the cable can be tucked in the gap. I have used the power from the left hand side passenger power socket. This socket switches itself off after 30 minutes to conserve power. I purchased a 32GB sd card which gives about 4 hours of HD recording.
One of the reasons I went for this make it was the which magazine winner and also has GPS and the software can be played back on a Mac. Some of other softwares do not support mac.

You need to change to [img] etc. lowercase to get your photos displayed.
Alternatively copy the direct link across from photobucket, use the link button above your message window and paste that link between the bracketed code. Use the preview button to check that it's worked. I can't edit 991 posts otherwise I would do it for you.
Regards,
Clive.

Fixed that for you.

Good neat instal and a lot tidier than the GoPro suction frame.

I use the Transcend DrivePro 200 myself, which I bought earlier this year prior to the Scotland and Norway tours. At around £75 on special from a firm in Ireland, I thought it was worth a punt and it has turned out to be a useful piece of kit and seems to work well for the price. Comes with a memory card too, which a few rival offerings seem to omit.
The only drawback as far as I can see is it has a sticky pad mounting but no suction cup, so once you've used this and the supplied spare pad, you're on your own but there are plenty of sticky pads at the local stores.

Regards,

Clive.

Image from a Halfords Next Base 402G. The quality is very good in daylight or streetlight and it has a lot of handy features like display routes on Google maps.

The wires easily tuck out of sight and the unit sits behind the mirror. I have added black tape over the white writing on the front so it blends in.

Thanks for getting the photos to show for me.
I used a black felt pen to hide the writing on the front, and blends in a lot better. The 402G produces a good picture , the micro sd card fiddly to move, but the software provided works on a Mac which was the main criteria.

I have not told Porsche insurance yet, they might give me a discount haha
