Independent service?

As it's an older car, look at your local OPC - many give decent rates for servicing older cars. My closest indie charges not a lot less than my closest OPC for servicing my 93 968!
The thing is, would you let an OPC anywhere near your car? Personally no.
I use use and have used the same Indu for ten years. I trust and respect their opinion backed up by our relationship. I would and have happily shared a beer with these guys.
Would you get the same from OPC? Some how doubt it. My Indy doesn't have parts targets on the office wall!

I'm happy to use my local OPC, (Porsche Bournemouth, if anyone's interested) and do. The technician who works on my '88 911 has worked on them from new, treats my car like his own and I have complete faith in him. I'm less precious about the Boxster so not overly concerned about who works on it because they all have the skill and dedication to do a good job. They always contact me if they find anything unexpected before they commit to additional work and their prices are competitive on older cars.
Regarding targets, surely every modern business needs something to aim for? It's the ability (and desire) to make customers think they are important rather than a cash-cow that matters - and there are many indy's that could learn from a good OPC.
On a less personal level, Porsche Bournemouth is a very generous and active partner to the Dorset region of PCGB.
I must apologise for taking this slightly off topic, but I'd hate anyone to think all OPC's are the same.
Oh yes, though I have no professional ties to them, I've enjoyed sharing many a beer with the staff of Porsche Bournemouth.
